Nottingham Racecourse is delighted to announce its Fixture List for 2012, when a total of 18 days racing will be staged at the Colwick Park track.
The majority of the fixtures will be staged on similar dates to 2011, and the main points are these:-
1. The season will begin in Easter week, on Wednesday 11th April, with the traditional opening card featuring the ‘Further Flight Stakes’.
2. The highlight of the year, the two day Kilvington Meeting will take place on the 11th and 12th May, and for the first time the Friday card, the first day will be an evening fixture.
3. The Sunday Meeting, Family Fun Day, introduced for the first time in 2011 has been retained, but will be staged a week later, on Sunday 3rd June as part of the long holiday weekend to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen.
4. The ever popular Ladies Evening retains its traditional date on the first Saturday in July.
5. The season will end, as always, with five midweek meetings in a six week period- with the finale on Wednesday 7th November.
Commenting on the release of the 2012 fixtures, Pip Kirkby, Managing Director of Nottingham Racecourse said; ‘ I am well aware of the frustration many of our race goers have felt in the long delay in publishing this list, but I hope the wait has been worthwhile.’
‘Most of our highest profile and best attended meetings remain in a similar position in the calendar to last year, and I hope that making the first day of the Kilvington Meeting an evening fixture, and bringing Friday night racing to Nottingham will be attractive to many. We see it as a huge opportunity for people to have a weekend to savour with us- as Ladies Day will continue alongside the jewel in our racing crown, the Kilvington Stakes, on the Saturday.’ she added.
